Welcome to GRP!

We are so excited that you chose us for your international experience this summer. This page will give you the basic information that you will need in preparation for your arrival.

We’re here to help.

We know that arriving and working here will be more complicated than for our domestic staff. If you have any questions, please ask as soon as they come up. (lauren@greenriverpreserve.org; 1+828-698-8828)

Arrival

SUPPORT STAFF please plan to fly into the airport on May 27th between 12pm and 5pm.

PROGRAM STAFF
please plan to fly into the airport on May 28th between 12pm and 5pm.

This give you give time to move into camp before the first day of training. A member of the GRP staff will pick you up from the airport; flying into Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) is ideal, but we know that Greenville-Spartanburg Airport (GSP) can be a bit cheaper.

Please email us before you finalize your flights.

Refer to the Travel Plans page for more information.

Paperwork

  • Some forms in your CampInTouch account will be replaced by those from the recruitment system you used to apply (e.g. Camp America, IENA), and you will not need to fill out the CampInTouch version.

    • e.g. Background Check, doctor’s form

    • You do not need to complete any tax/payment forms until your arrival and visit to the social security office

Social Security

A member of the admin team will take you to the Social Security office within the first week of your time at GRP to make sure you can be paid appropriately. For that meeting, you will need:

  • Passport

  • Form SS-5

    • We will work on this form together once you arrive!

  • Form I-94

    • This will be created upon your arrival to the US - you can search and find it here!

  • Form DS-2019

    • Please bring this with you - it should have been issued to you by your program as part of your visa application. Please let us know if that is not the case.

What we Will provide

If you are joining us from another country, we know it can be hard to bring everything with you. For that reason, GRP will provide:

  • Any transportation you need

    • We will coordinate with other staff to make sure you can ride into town during session breaks if desired

  • Bed linens

  • Towels

  • Sleeping bag and backpack for CampOut

You’ll also have the opportunity to visit the store for any essentials within the first few days you are at camp. We recommend bringing travel-size toiletries for that time, then you can purchase things like normal-sized bottles of shampoo at the store before training starts!

That’s it!

You are a part of the team, no matter where you call home. Get ready to join in, get trained, and seek the joy!
